Product Safety

At Yukiguni Maitake, we do our best to provide safe, reliable products to help bring smiles to our customers.

Product Manufacturing Policy

At Yukiguni Maitake, we make products based on our company motto, “Contribution towards society with quality products. A worthwhile workplace”, and our code of conduct, which states, “We aim to give utmost satisfaction to our customers by providing quality, fresh, and safe products as per their expectations. We do not make anything that we, as individuals, do not want to have".

Making Products That Satisfy

As a company making food that customers eat, we have introduced HACCP, a system for manufacturing safe products. We identify food hazards at every step of the production process, from taking in the raw materials to shipping out the finished product, as well as take steps to prevent these hazards from occurring.

【What is HACCP?】
HACCP is short for Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point, and is a method of analyzing what constitutes hazards during the manufacturing process (Hazard Analysis) and defining Critical Control Points along the way to ensure safe food products.

At Yukiguni Maitake, we have obtained the international food safety standard ISO22000 in order to obtain an objective evaluation of HACCP.

【What is ISO22000? 】
This is an international food safety standard that defines requirements for management systems to be implemented throughout an organization to ensure continuous improvement and the application of HACCP principles and procedures.

Because mushroom cultivation is an agricultural activity, we are also certified by ASIAGAP, an international standard for sustainable agriculture management and operations.

【What is ASIAGAP? 】
This is one part of GAP, an international standard originating in Japan that stands for Good Agricultural Practice. This standard defines requirements not only for food safety, but also for environmental conservation, labor safety, and labor management.

Efforts By Process

Commitment to Raw Materials

Our mushrooms are cultivated in a medium made from plant-derived materials such as sawdust, which comes from pulverized wood. Since mushrooms absorb nutrients from this medium as they grow, we consider the safety of the medium to be of utmost importance. The sawdust used for cultivation is 100% of Japanese origin, and is tested for heavy metals such as lead and cadmium as well as radioactive substances to verify its safety.

Sanitation Efforts

Our workers wear specialized work gear and also wash and disinfect their hands thoroughly. The sanitation of equipment and other items is inspected regularly and contributes to the improvement of on-site conditions.

Efforts against Contaminants

(1) Workers wear hats that cover their heads to keep hair from falling onto products.
(2) Workers entering the manufacturing site use an adhesive roller, then pass through an air shower to remove any contaminants.

As part of our food safety efforts, we maintain strict control over entry into the facilities so that no suspicious persons may enter, and video is taken of workers when entering to ensure they have complied with rules.

Inspecting for Contaminants in Products

Equipment to thoroughly inspect all products for contaminants is installed on the production line.

Every one of our products is marked with a code that allows for complete traceability of the product, including its packaging center, packaging line, and cultivation center.
We have also worked together with our suppliers and logistics partners so that customers can track the store and distribution channel of the product they purchased, creating a system that allows us collect information on products and respond quickly to inquiries.

Thorough Management even after Our Products Leave the Company

We make sure our products are refrigerated at a temperature of 10 degrees Celsius or lower during delivery and when stored in distribution warehouses.

Earning Customer's Trust

Customers can check our website for the results of regular testing for pesticides, heavy metals, and radioactive substances in our mushrooms.
